Download Practice File:  Starting Point

  • Create a new Design Option Set showing alternatives for how the internal walls on Level 1 could be arranged.
    • Open the Design Options tool.
    • Create a new Option Set.
    • Rename this new Option Set to Open Plan vs. Separate Office.
    • Create two new Options within this Option Set.
      • Create and name one Separate Offices.
      • Create and name another one Open Plan.
  • Create another new Design Option Set showing alternatives for the facade glazing features in your proposed design.
    • Open the Design Options tool.
    • Create a new Option Set.
    • Rename this new Option Set to Facade Glazing Features.
    • Create two new Options within this Option Set.
      • Create and name one Separate Offices.
      • Create and name another one Open Plan.
  • Add a few elements to each of the Open Plan vs. Separate Office design options.
    • Use the Active Design Option menu (at the bottom of the drawing area) to open the Separate Office design option for editing and add a few walls where they can be easily seen.
    • Use the Active Design Option menu to open the Open Plan design option for editing and add a few more walls with a very different configuration that will be easy to spot.
    • Use the Active Design Option menu to return to finish editing options and return to the Main Model.
  • Note which design option is displayed in the Main Model, then try changing the Primary Option within the Open Plan vs. Separate Office option set and observe how that changes what’s displayed in the main model.

When you have completed this exercise, your model should look like the end point:
