Design Challenge:
- The circular shape of my building definitely increase the level of difficulties to design the all the plumbing fixture positions and properly arrange the pipings route. In my design, There are fixtures on both side and the women’s and men’s restroom are designed side by side. I initially wanted to use just one sanitary pipe to accommodate all the fixture but later found it impossible to do so. So I added another sanitary pipe just for the fixtures on the other side of the restroom.
- Took me a while to think about how to place all the fixtures to achieve three goals:
- feasible pipe arrangement
- no pipe conflict
- shortest pipe distance
- It was also challenging to design while thinking about the Architectural, structural, and mechanical design at the same time to avoid any conflict between the pipe systems and the columns, beams, ducts, etc. I linked all models to the plumbing model while designing the plumbing systems which didn’t eliminate all the conflicts but I am pretty satisfied with the result.
Creating multiple sections views and combine with 3D views to design helped a lot.
