Module 1 - Design Inspirations & Big Feature Ideas
  1. Leveraging Solar Power. Many commercial green buildings are integrating solar power into their architecture plants. This makes the building more energy efficient. Depending on the geography and lighting, the building could produce enough energy to feed back into the grid. For example, Copenhagen International School in Denmark features the world's largest solar facade. The more than 12,000 colored solar panels, integrated directly into the building's structure and glass, produce half the energy needs of the school.

2. Skylighting And Sunlight. Rather than relying on electricity, modern green buildings maximize the use of natural lighting. Many green buildings have skylights, windows in the ceiling that allow natural light to come in. For example, in National Parliament House in Bangladesh, natural light falls into the hall from different directions, providing sufficient lighting during the daytime.

3. Creating Natural Spaces. Buildings are no longer separate entities from their environments. The best green building ideas naturally blend the building into its environment to create natural spaces. For example, The ultra-modern Alcazar de Toledo project is nestled into a hill overlooking Mexico City. Designed as luxury residences, the building has a curving driveway that leads to a covered rooftop parking lot and floor-to-ceiling windows.
