Upcycle Town

We aim to create a holistic community space that facilitates upcycling (creatively re-using) otherwise futile materials that we often dispose. The idea is to setup spaces within towns and cities, specifically aiming at bringing local creative enthusiasts together in one place, to recreate from their worn out materials and objects. Think of it as a flea market, that has different stores, where you could bring your fabric, plastic, jute, steel and other such waste and then creatively curate items as a community. Our target community is small towns and cities. The objective is to lessen the waste generated from simply throwing away old materials, in productive ways. Through this initiative, we could also create a positive economic impact.

Recreational Energy Parks

We want to help people stay fit without having to incur any additional expense for it. Our idea is to propose mechanical equipment in all community and public parks that operate the same way as gym equipment and works similarly on the muscles. These mechanical machines require no electricity and can be placed in an open air area too. When people work out on these machines we intend to make these energy efficient as they will generate electricity to provide light , power to the music systems and water coolers and other electronic interventions. The mechanical equipment will be made from metal scraps.

Green Learning Spaces

Studying in a positive learning environment has proven to enable students to be more motivated, have a higher overall learning ability and to be more engaged. Creating a Green Learning Space with the right materials and layout can have long lasting effects on students and communities. Our goal is to design a recreational/study space where students can strive. By implementing a variety of plants and trees, the space adopts the green, white and yellow colors. The green color creates calmness, the white color creates positive feelings and the yellow color is optimum for maintaining attention and encouraging creativity. Another advantage of implementing plants and trees in such a place is their role in absorbing noise. Using the right layout, the plants can reduce noise levels by 10 db, which would deliver the right noise level for a fruitful studying session. To keep the temperature inside the space at an optimal level, a ‘water wall’ that irrigates the plants would be combined with fans that push the air inside the building. This would not only enable a cooler environment but also deliver purified air to the space. The roof of this space would be equipped with solar panels, to supply the energy needs, at an angle that enables the perfect combination of natural light entering the space. Throughout the world, many animal species, such as birds, are at an ever more increasing risk of losing shelter due to the expansion of concrete city centers. This space would enable birds and other small species to find a home and prosper in the community. For instance, by implementing bee hives on the outside of the space, bees would contribute to the pollination of the flora nearby.
