The first exhibition that I thought of was the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh. I recently visited it, and the exhibitions change quite frequently, which I find really great especially since it’s a relatively small place. They are all also very interactive which I enjoy.

This is one of the exhibits that is always there, and is a small square room, but once inside looks infinite. I think that it’s a great example of expanding a small space into a unique experience that seems to transcend its actual physicality.

Another exhibition space that I really enjoy is the Carnegie Science Center, also in Pittsburgh. I went to it a few times when I was younger and once last summer, and it is very in line with the program of this class’s design project. Every room has multiple little stations that have some fact and an interactive display of it, and it is a very effective example of teaching through exhibition. It also has this giant cone-shaped thing on the top that you can see in lots of places around Pittsburgh that piques the passerby’s interest and makes them want to see what is inside.
