Modeling approach:
- Planning- For the structure, I planned on designing a bus stop style cover. The planning stage involved reviewing tutorial videos and worklflows to understand capabilities and scope the model appropriately. I sketched a few designs and hoped to provide a simple structure that utilized complex/combination of geometry by leveraging the lunchbox package panel abilities with an overall simpler shapes of curves for the dominant structure shape.
- Defining controlling geometry- I decided to use three main curves to control the dominant structure shape. These three curves were placed at set distance, and assigned placement points to manipulate geometry and create the shape of the main body. Ribs were added along both transverse and longitude sides with a pentagonal shape, to add to the complexity of geometric shapes used for a simple structure shape.
Parameters
- The structure can be parametrically resized - Each part of below can be resized:
- the length or your structure by dragging a slider
- the height of your structure by dragging a slider
- the width of your structure by dragging a slider
- the curvature by dragging a slider
- the frequency of curves if a line is added to the system
- Change the number of ribs and panels-
- the number of ribs and number of panels can be adjusted by by dragging a slider
