Layout: My plan for my overall building layout was to have a very freeform and open layout. I really want the exhibition spaces to be on the first floor and to be open to change. My main point was for them to be interchangeable with temporary partitions so that they can change space, shape, and location pertaining to whatever is going on at the time.
Entrances, Exits, & Circulation: I wanted the entrance to be towards the existing parking lot so we could utilize that space, and there to be available exits. I need to double check the occupancy to ensure that I have the appropriate amount of exits. As far as circulation elements, I have just the open space, hallways, and the one staircase but I am thinking of adding an additional one from the large exhibition space to the café, maybe a circular one since it seems that just having one may not be enough. I also have the elevator as well.
Building Cores: As far as building cores, I have the elevator, elevator machine room, and MEP room located together that lead up to the second floor as well. The restrooms are in that area as well. I figured any shafts and piping that needed to go through the second floor could go through there (not including anything needed for the cafe). I will most likely need a second shaft for ventilation in the large exhibition room as well.

Here are the sketches for my building layout. The bubble diagram as a bit too abstract for me so drawing out my ideas worked better instead. When actually laying out the building in my Revit model, I had to make a few changes (one of them realizing that I had put the restrooms next to the curtainwall…..).

My building still looks a mess but I feel like it is slowly coming together with what I had envisioned.
