Hi everybody!
My name is Katie, and I’m a first year master’s student studying structural engineering. I graduated from the University of Southern California last spring with my bachelors in Civil Engineering Building Science. I’m originally from New Jersey, about 30 miles west of Manhattan!
I worked at USC in their structures and materials lab, working with a PhD student on her thesis to create a self healing concrete. I worked for USC Viterbi School of Engineering creating and editing floor plans of the buildings on campus. Last summer, I was a Project Management intern for Walt Disney Imagineering, where I got to work with architects and structural engineers on an existing attraction.
I was introduced to Grasshopper in my undergraduate classes when we were tasked with designing and modeling using Rhino. I am interested in this course to have a in depth understanding of what different softwares like Grasshopper and Dynamo can really be used for in real world applications.
My goal for this course is to gain a better understanding of how these types of softwares actually work in conjunction with Rhino and Revit, and how applicable they are to real world scenarios in preparation for a career in structural engineering.
My family and I like to spend a lot of time together, especially hiking! We’ve hiked over 20 state high points in the US so far. (My family minus me pictured below!)
