Description

The proposed extension continues the legacy of Stanford architecture, such as keeping the iconic red tile roof seen across campus, yet challenges the top down order of the institution. Instead of maintaining perfect alignments, three irregular, defragmented platforms are arranged in a bottom heavy structure with many sightlines outside and within to the building’s top. Along with the decks, the inner courtyard serve as open outdoor rooms to capitalize on the beautiful weather. Prioritizing transparency, a three story glass wall hugs the focal stair feature traversing all levels. The tunnel bisecting the two sides funnels inwards towards the center, encouraging a collective, communal environment.
