For my proposed extension, I wanted to maintain the overall design of the Y2E2. To this end, I focused on flipping the already provided left side of the building and replicating it to the right. In order to ensure that it didn’t feel disjointed, I wanted to connect both sides of the building with a central foyer which serves as a gathering site for the students as well as a gallery on the third floor. Overall, I wanted the building to feel modern and inviting to those on the outside. Furthermore, I wanted the central foyer to have complete transparency, allowing people on the outside to view completely through the building. Also, I wanted to maximize the amount of patio area on the second and third floors.
