Modeling a Parametric Structure

Modeling Approach

In this assignment, I went for designing a creative and functional bus stop that could be adjusted parametrically. Using both the module kickoff lecture and module videos, I was able to create a minimalist bus stop using adaptive panels. In addition, a sine wave was inputted into one of the controlling lines of the structure’s curvature to add a distinct look. The approach involved creating lines that would be used to create a surface, which was then used to attach adaptive components/panels. The sine wave was implemented by transforming a line into a curve which was then separated into directional points. A chosen direction was added to the sine wave function. Lastly, the directional points were inputted back into a coordinate point, turned into a nurbs curve, and inputted into the surface.

Parameters

  • Length of Structure
  • Height of Structure
  • Width of Structure
  • Curvature of Structure
  • Number of Ribs
  • Number of Panels
  • Frequency of Waves
  • Amplitude of Waves
