Key Features/Aspects that make exhibition spaces great
- large, open atriums with a ton of natural light
- mezzanine spaces with room for multistory exhibits.
- Interesting and intriguing outdoor spaces that connect the building to the surrounding city or natural world
I think the above are at the top of the list of attributes for me because I enjoy being in large, open air or open concept spaces that either features views of the outdoors or of exhibits. I really like to feel small in a space - I find it intriguing and thought-provoking. An example of this is the atrium in the museum of natural history in new york city (with a wide open space for a blue whale hanging model). Another example of taking advantage of the surrounding view is the Boston Museum of Science on the Charles River.
