Space Design Guidelines

Space Design Guidelines

In this session, I categorize the area into two categories: Primary and Ancillary spaces. In tropical regions, it's crucial to differentiate the ventilation mode of each area: Natural, Mechanical (Fan or Hybrid), and Air conditioning. My goal is to minimize the use of air conditioning and increase Mechanical Ventilation and Natural ventilation in areas such as exhibition spaces, open offices, and cafes.

Several aspects that we should consider in interior spaces and exhibition design guideline:

Flexibility: The space should be flexible to a variety of exhibitions and events.

Acoustics: The space's acoustics should be acceptable for exhibitions and events

Lighting: is critical for emphasizing the exhibits and creating the ideal ambiance.

Temperature and comfort control: are critical for guaranteeing visitors’ comfort.

Accessibility: The space should be easily accessible for disabled people.

Technology: Such as audio equipment, can improve the exhibition experience.

Signage: Clear and effective signage is essential for orienting visitors and exhibit information.

Logo and branding recognition: should represent the exhibition's branding and image.

Catering: Having food and beverages available

Security: The exhibition venue should have adequate security measures in place.

The Gross Floor Area is 2945 m2 (31,700 sft) with an average floor height of 3.5m, except for the first floor, which will have a height of 5m to allow for natural ventilation in the void deck. The first ground floor will be a free, open-shaded space with natural ventilation and a versatile exhibition area for community use. The East-West facade design has been studied carefully, referencing various examples. Staircases will also be designed with natural ventilation in mind. The design will incorporate the use of natural materials and patterns, resulting in a tropical, sustainable, and modern building.
