Design Journal Entry - Module 11
Your Design Journal entries this week should highlight your design thinking and process in modeling:
- your power system elements
- your lighting system elements
For this module, I picked the second floor of my building because it had offices, exhibition spaces, and restrooms.
As there is a mechanical/utlities room at each floor, I placed the Panelboard in that room.
I divided my circuits based on purpose and geography in the building
- The offices were all in one circuit
- The washroom lights were all in one circuit
- The two exhibition spaces in this room had separate circuits
- The storage area
All my lights were on ceilings, I did not want any wall washers because I felt like the daylighting and windows were adequate
I couldnt put plug points (receptacles) on the walls with mullions and because my exhibition spaces are large and airy, there were no walls to put them in — so I put them into the floor and that worked out pretty well
The conference rooms had more receptacles to cater to the electric loads of the television and VC conferencing hardware
Switches were provided right next to the doors
This is what the panel schedule looks like:
For some reason, the space schedule did not reflect the lighting in the spaces, despite there being lighting fixtures. But I added more fixtures to the conference spaces to cater to the higher lighting requirement, and the passages can be little more dimly lit
