Hi everyone! My name is Shirley, and I am a graduate student at Stanford University pursuing a Masters degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Urban Systems track. I previously graduated from University of Toronto with a major in Civil Engineering and a minor in Artificial Intelligence Engineering.
During my first year of grad school, I worked as a Data Science Engineering intern on campus and developed data pipelines for the Stanford Energy Operations department. I was also a research assistant in Prof. Wong-Parodi’s lab in Spring 2023 and studied the community impact of climate hazards as a part of the Our Communities, Our Bay project. In Summer 2023, I worked at Arup’s Los Angeles office as a Digital Engineering intern and contributed to Digital Design Delivery efforts on a large public infrastructure project. Most recently, I am doing a research project on the seismic resilience of dams adviced by Dr. McCann.
My interests lie at the intersection of infrastructure and technology, and I hope to improve the efficiency and resilience of urban infrastructure systems using computational and data-driven techniques.
