- A brief paragraph discussing:
- any challenges that you encountered in this supply duct routing exercise
- whether your proposed design meets the project’s spatial design goals
- any recommendations to make the design more sustainable (and lower the heating and cooling loads)
One of the biggest challenges I had was finding heights that worked for the ducts in comparison to the supplies. I struggled to find a height where they were able to be placed and still was below the second floor and the beams. Obviously I wasn’t perfect as the duct still runs through one of the beams, and the supply modules are very low. In my model I’m going to run the ducts under the beams and flip them up for the supply modules.
My desgin meets the goals. Having enough airflow for each space and having both east and west modules. Although like I said before the supply modules are very low and not very attractive. I believe it would be best to have the structural model in place while incorportating the hvac systems.
I would try to make less turns in the air systems to maximize efficiency as well as making some different turns to try to have the shortest length of total ducts as possible.
