Overall HVAC Strategry
My overall HVAC strategy was to try to limit bends within the hvac system while trying to evenly distribute the air supplies evenly throughout each zone. I started by placing the supply modules first to ensure that they were evenly distributed throughout the building and throughout each zone, they connected them with ducts at the end. I decided to zone the left and right sides of the building seperately, including the middle spaces with the left side as the air control was on the right and it naturally passed them.
Heating Strategy & Cooling Strategy
Because I used all air distribution methods, most of the heating and cooling needs were combined with the calculated supply airflow, but when modeling I tried to take into account which areas were likely to ger more hot or more cold. Some areas that I thought could get increasingly hot were ares like food prep, lobbies, and interactive or children’s areas. And some areas that I thought might be less able to reatin heat were upper level offices, due to their glazing exterior.
Special Challenge
I had a lot of challenges with this module. It took me forever to figure out how to calculate loads, unfortunately over 8 or 9 hours. But once I got those numbers it was smooth sailing from there on out. I had some issues figuring out how high to place the ducts so they didn’t interfere with the structural system as well.
