Design Journal Entry - Module 10

Your Design Journal entries this week should highlight your design thinking and process in modeling:

• your plumbing system elements
• I have a five story plumbing system where the first three floors have stacked bathrooms, and therefore plumbing is repeated. I aligned plumbing fixtures along continuous faces as much as I could, in order to create a more simplified pipe system.
• your piping systems
• I have a three track pipe system with hot water cold water and sanitation. I explored placing my pipes above and below the floor they service, and the placement of my sinks and toilet systems within my bathrooms.

• any special plumbing system challenges that you encountered and how you overcame them
• I had some trouble figuring out where to put my pipe systems, as I didn’t have gaps between my interior and exterior walls. For now, I have most of the plumbing on interior walls, exposed within the bathroom, while I figure out the best way to modify my architectural design in order to create plumbing shafts, without needing to compromised my architectural design and the space I had slotted for bathrooms was able to resolve most of the connections and work around connections not working due to limited space, by moving around the pipe systems.
