Design Journal Entry - Module 10

Your Design Journal entries this week should highlight your design thinking and process in modeling:

• your plumbing system elements
• My restrooms are stacked on all levels, with uniform restroom sizes for levels 3-8. In each of these, I placed 3 toilets and 3 lavatories, with one larger stall for ADA accessibility.

• your piping systems
• My piping systems are all located in the double walls on either side of the restrooms (5” of space between the two 5” walls), and they connect to the trunk lines located in the exterior wall.


• any special plumbing system challenges that you encountered and how you overcame them
• I had a lot of trouble connecting the pipes from the fixtures to the trunk lines since the curved exterior wall made it difficult to achieve a 90º angle, but I was able to get the connections with a lot of trial and error playing with the elevation of the pipes.
• I also had trouble copying the elements using the “aligned to selected levels” paste option, so I ended up grouping the elements and using the copy tool to offset the copied groups by the height of the levels.
