Plumbing System and Restroom Design

The plumbing system was designed with efficiency and user convenience in mind, particularly for the restroom configurations. The placement of toilets varies according to the floor area and expected usage:

  • Floors 1 to 3: Higher occupancy levels necessitate more restroom facilities. Each restroom includes three stalls for men and three stalls for women to accommodate the increased number of users.
  • Floors 4 to 6: Primarily office spaces with lower occupancy compared to the lower floors. Each restroom includes one stall for men and one stall for women to meet the reduced demand.

Plumbing Design Considerations

  • Efficient Wastewater Drainage: To maintain proper waste disposal, a downward slope is incorporated into all sanitary pipes to ensure smooth wastewater flow and prevent clogging.
  • Minimized Pipe Length: The design minimizes pipe distance by placing restrooms in close proximity to plumbing risers, reducing the risk of pressure loss and optimizing maintenance.
  • Vertical Pipe Alignment: Restrooms across different floors are aligned vertically, allowing the main vertical stack to remain straight throughout the building, simplifying installation and improving efficiency.

Your Design Journal entries for this module should highlight your design thinking and analysis results that influenced your decisions about:

  • your overall HVAC system strategy
  • your heating strategy and how you implemented it in your design
  • your cooling strategy and how you implemented it
  • any special HVAC system challenges that you encountered
