Your Design Journal entries this week should highlight your design thinking and process in modeling:
- your plumbing system elements
- your piping systems
- any special plumbing system challenges that you encountered and how you overcame them
The plumbing system elements consist of toilets, urinals, lavatory sinks. The piping systems consist of cold, hot, and sanitary water. They run across five levels and are split into west (women) and east (men) parts. The first and fifth floor only has accessible restrooms while the other floors have relatively large ones, each including their own accessible stalls. All riser pipes run within restroom areas hidden in wall, and horizontal routing pipes are above ceilings.
One big challenge I encountered was due to the space design that the restroom on the first and fifth floor is at slightly different locations from the other levels. The pipes need to be arranged (hidden) specially so that they do not cross the space and work well with the auto connect tool. The other challenge is setting up the correct section view to be able to place the plumbing fixtures with the right direction, or route the pipes in the desired direction. It took a lot of time to try and make different arrangements.
