Plumbing System
I fear that the practice exercise was deceptive in its relative simplicity because this is the system that I struggled with the most. This was mostly due to the fact that “Connect Into” did not work for sinks, urinals, and some toilets for a reason I could not figure out why. Therefore, many of the connections had to be completed manually 😞 I did learn a lot from that process, but it was very tedious and time-intensive. Nevertheless, it was completed.
There are two restrooms on each of the four floors in my building. One restroom will contain toilets, sinks, and urinals (traditionally a men’s restroom), and the other will contain only toilets and sinks (traditionally a women’s restroom). Due to the restroom layout, the plumbing system has to be rather involved, employing multiple risers. However, the architectural layout of my levels is such that the restrooms occur at the same spaces on each level, which made it easy to align piping elements to them.
It is important to note that the building’s architecture was slightly altered to make spaces for plumbing pipes. These space alterations include:
- 2’ x 19’ bump out into mechanical room
- 2’ x 19’ hollow space between restrooms
- 1’ 6” x 19’ bump out into stairwell
