Your Design Journal entries this week should highlight your design thinking and process in modeling:
- your power system elements
- I placed my power systems on 5 key spaces on the first floor. I chose the first floor because it will receive the least amount of natural light, so modeling electrical systems was the most important. Also, I have a mechanical room on the first floor, so I was able to place a panel in there. I made sure to place many power receptacles into all of these spaces, as they are all public, visitor welcoming spaces (other than the mechanical room), and therefore the lobby and gift shop in particular should have adequate power sources. The public bathrooms don’t require power receptacles, and guests can go to the lobby if they need to charge devices.
- your lighting system elements
- There are a range of room types, from bathrooms to a gift shop, to lobby. I went with a series of wall sconces for these spaces, as none of them require wall space to be utilized for other purposes. As such, I left the first floor exhibition space separate from this lighting scheme because wall space might need to be utilized for other purposes. I added ceiling lighting fixtures in larger rooms that weren’t sufficiently covered by the wall sconces, to reach the required AEI limits for those types of spaces.
