My overall goal with electrical and lighting systems was to try to limit crossover between electrical and lighting panelboards to try to keep the stress on the system lower.
I had difficulty, because of my open ceiling and exterior glazing, locating places to place lighting and electrical because both ceiling and wall space became limited. I attempted to solce this issue by placing floor standing light next to entrances and glazing to combat this issue, although I don’t believe that it would be incredibly practical for a commercial building like this.
I had decided when I began the project to include open ceilings because as part of the conention center I wanted people visiting to be able to see the “guts” of the building and see how a building is built and works in practice.
I would recommend hanging lights from the structural elements to utilize the space better and allow for more proportional lighting, although I didn’t feel very comfortable modeling this.
Regarding electrical equipment seperately, I placed two panel boards on each side of the building to limit the strain on each board, although this may not be very cost effective.
