Your Design Journal entries this week should highlight your design thinking and process in modeling:
Foe the electrical design I chose to model the power and lighting elements on my first floor in the gift shop, children’s playground, hallway, and entrance lobby.
- your power system elements
I have one 208V MCB - 400A panel capable of running an area of approximately 5000 ft2. For my outlets in the gift shop and playground rooms I tried to put at least 2 outlets on each wall spaced no more than 12ft apart. Due to the use of these 2 rooms, there is no need for a lot of outlets. I also placed a couple of outlets in the entrance lobby mainly by the reception to accommodate any electronic devices needed there, as well as some outlets in the hallway.
- your lighting system elements
For my lighting elements I have various lighting fixtures as well as switches. The two rooms use single pole switches due to there being only one entrance whereas the hallway and entrance lobby use a three way switch. All the lights are pendulum lights due to the ceiling being open for easier attachment. The lights were placed a couple of inches lower than the HVAC. All rooms are above the required average illumination.
