Power System Elements:
In this phase of the design process, I focused on incorporating the essential power system elements into a small portion of my building model. This included placing electrical panels, receptacles, and connecting various components through power circuits. Key steps involved:
- Placing Electrical Panels:
- I used a Lighting and Appliance Panel Board (400A) in the Guest Lobby and Kids Zone to manage power distribution efficiently.
- Adding Receptacles:
- Duplex receptacles were placed strategically within the spaces to ensure accessibility and compliance with power requirements.
- These receptacles were connected through power circuits to optimize energy distribution.
- Creating Power Circuits:
- Each duplex receptacle was assigned to a circuit and linked to the Lighting and Appliance Panel Board.
Lighting System Elements:
To develop the lighting system, I placed and connected lighting fixtures, switches, and circuits to ensure proper illumination throughout the designated building area.
- Placing Lighting Fixtures:
- I installed Sconce Light 100W fixtures to provide adequate lighting while maintaining energy efficiency.
- The fixtures were distributed strategically to meet the illumination requirements of different spaces.
- Adding Switches:
- Switches were positioned near doors to enhance accessibility and user convenience.
- The placement followed ergonomic design principles to ensure ease of operation.
- Creating Lighting Circuits:
- The lighting fixtures were assigned to circuits based on their functional zones.
- Each circuit was linked to the electrical panel to ensure efficient power distribution and control.
Analyzing Illumination Levels:
- I compared the estimated illumination values against target levels for different space types:
- Additional lighting fixtures were added where necessary to meet the required illumination standards.
Space Type | Target Illumination (Footcandles) | Measured Illumination |
Guest Lobby | 40 fc | 52 fc |
Kids Zone | 40 fc | 47 fc |
Male Restroom | 18 fc | 22 fc |
Female Restroom | 18 fc | 18 fc |
ADA Restroom | 18 fc | 33 fc |
By following these steps, I ensured that the lighting system met design standards while maintaining energy efficiency and usability.
