Module 5 - Flex Your Form
For the first design, I chose to use the Shanghai Tower as a base.
In my design, I based it on an equal length hexagon and added fillets to the edges to reduce wind drag and wind forces to reduce structural member size requirements.
Lofting three different hexagon shapes together, I was able to create my tower. In the parameters, I set the mid-height of the tower as half the full height.
Other parameters that can be flexed dynamically include:
- width
- depth
- rotation/twist
- height
at all three levels.
In the two models, the parameters that were flexed are “top height” and “twist”
