- A few sentences describing your modeling approach
First I decided on the shape of the structure that I wanted, which was a simple bus stop cover that could possibly use a very limited amount of material. To do this, I wanted to create a diagrid-like structure that supported the roof to be the most structurally efficient. Then I created the boundaries of the structure (height, width, spacing, curvature, etc). Once the parameters were created, I used a lofted surface and created a grid of points. Using the uv grid, I then created diamond panels with the grasshopper function and separated the frame from the surfaces. I then extruded a circular surface along the frame elements to create the physical diagrid structure.
- A brief description of your design outlining the parameters that can be used to flex and dynamically change your structure
The parameters of the structure include height, length, curve of surface, spacing of the grid, and radius of the cross-sections.
