Problem Statement - Ocean level rise, rapid population growth, and unsustainable human practices are implicating Earth’s ecosystems. Rapid advancement needs to occur by 2054 or else the world will not only run out of space, but resources to support human kind.
Concept Statement - Our solution is to create a floating city right off the coast of Venice codenamed “New Venice”. 71% of Earth is roughly covered by water, and by utilizing that space for human civilization, we can not only resolve the problem of increasing population growth, but also sea level rise from worsening climate change. The goal is to create a fully self-sustaining city that Venetians can move to once Venice gets submerged underwater. Because of its direct integration with nature, the city will have sustainability design at its core, functioning as a positive addition to its surrounding environment.
