Design Inspirations

I was born in Hawai’i and as I grew up in Hawai’i I have seen more building near the ocean. I lot of the buildings are just glass and I want to create a unique shape building that is sustainable and also use all its elements around it to make in sustainable. has been I wanted to explore the world and see different structures for my project. Singapore has one of the best building designs in the world. My favorite thing about what they do is add a lot of green to their building. They add a lot of trees and plants to reduce the pollution in the area and also bring shade to the building if it is in a high area of sunlight. One building in particular that caught my eye is Oasia Hotel Downtown. I love the shape of the building and how it has cave shapes in the building, giving a unique feeling to the people's eyes. It also has a vertical garden going up the building. I also got inspiration from LAD headquarters, in China, by MVRDV on the way they added solar panels on their roof. I like the wavy design they added to the roof and it created a more open area rather than having a closed roof. The roof has tons of solar panels that help with sustainable energy.

Big Design Ideas

I want to be a sustainable as possible by with the elements around the building.

Innovative Building/System Features

  • To make my building as sustainable as possible as I can is adding solar panels. The location of my building would be in Hawai’i so this would be a plus for me because we get a lot of sunlight. The open roof would have the majority of the solar panels.

  • I will also add a system that cycles rainwater. This would be a place to water the plants we have all over the building rather than using our fresh water.

    2. Sunlight- By having a building that is open and has a design that makes sunlight access the building easy. We could use more natural light than using electricity for light.

Natural cooling- I would like to add natural cooling systems like the CapitaGreen by Toyo Ito & Associates building that takes the wind from the outside and adds it into the building.
