On the scatterplot from our data, we can determine that there is some sort of balance between gross floor area and the construction cost. Although is likely no one specific design that should be chosen, I was able to select a handful of designs based on maximizing the floor area while minimizing cost. Following this criteria, some design trends that were generally avoided was the use of taller, wider structures. This generally led to massively increased costs, even though the floor area increased. Something that I would like to look into would be an evaluator that looked at a ratio between these two values. By comparing the floor area to the cost/sqft ratio, we could settle on fewer designs that would appeal the most as affordable housing.
