Module 6 - Evaluate Your Alternatives

A main objective for testing these alternatives was the viewing angle that would be achieved by those in the building to the Bay Bridge. To achieve this I wanted to include the four adjacent buildings in the model geometry as a reference. At an overwhelming 825’ (Forgot Limitation) it is important to me to give ideal views for those inside the structure. I wanted to determine how this ideal orientation would be achieved in relation to other buildings. In doing so, the Mid-Height and Top-Height were flexed to give new alternatives. Simple changes of angles could greatly change the buildings rotation and size in general. Cases I recommend lie with the building being as tall as possible (825’). This is because as the building decreases and deals with other angles the floor area is increased significantly making an awkward shape. The alternative of choice is show in the picture below, 825’ at 45 degrees costing $2522218000. That is the minimum of cost from the lists of alternatives and offers an appropriate viewing angle which makes this selection ideal.

View from Water

It would have been ideal to make a cascade for the building near the higher floors to create a pocket that offers outdoor views at the top.
