Please add to our community thinking by posting a few inspirational analogies of your own between the systems that you typically find in biological organisms and similar systems that we often (or should) find in buildings.
Think creatively about all the systems and features that allow creatures to survive, thrive, and adapt to their environments!
The respiratory system is similar to the HVAC system because they both serve to exchange air from inside to outside.
Like human bodies, the buildings also try to maintain a consistent and appropriate temperature to provide thermal comfort.
The windows of the building is similar to human mouth because they allow the exchange of inside and outside air. The human skin is also analogous to windows in that they allow sunlight, which is vital to the wellness of human beings, to come in.
Similarly, the digestive system is similar to the plumbing system in that they both allow the waste to be removed, and all the parts of the systems are connected to ensure the successful removal of the waste.
The skeletal system is similar to the structural system because they both provide a frame and the body/building will collapse without these systems.
