What types of building information are best portrayed in 3D views?

The amenities of a building are best portrayed in 3D views because it allows clients to better visualize the proposed outcome of the project. It allows viewers to immerse themselves in the design and “get a feel” for the environment. The stakeholders that require 2D views would be contractors and construction workers because they need the dimensions and spacings between elements. Contractors that need 2D views range from the window and door installers to the people framing the house.

Give examples of how the building information for a specific location in the project needs to be filtered for different audiences and purposes?

This project emphasized how different perspectives of the project need to be produced in order for stakeholders to understand their purpose. Contractors need a more simple layout that has dimensions and tags to enhance efficiency and limit confusion during the construction process. On the other hand, potential clients want to see a more eye-catching perspective and see the storyline throughout the project.

How can schedule views be used to assist with procurement and model-based estimating?

Schedule views are a convenient way to organize materials and square footage of different elements. This allows different stakeholders to assess how much material they need. If a schedule view shows the grand total of a material this can reduce waiting times for material if they order it ahead. This estimating plays a role in budgeting which is a huge factor in projects. The sooner people know what they might need to produce the project, the sooner people can prepare.
