What sort of complexities are introduced when you construct a building complex in phases?

  • What happens at the interfaces between the buildings as the phases advance?
  • How can you plan and prepare for these complexities as your create your initial building model?

The hardest part for me was the fact that you have to start using phasing or the whole project becomes a mess. You have to be on top of what phase you are in so that you don’t end up putting different objects in different phasing becuase it takes a while to change them.

In your project, which features of the proposed design did you choose to model as design alternatives?

  • Why did you choose these building features? And what were the biggest challenges in modeling them as the design alternatives?

I chose to redesign the whole interior wall set up. I switched some rooms and gave another layout to the inside of the three floors so that the person can pick between two different layouts. I personally like the 2nd phase better becasue the student lounge is bigger. I think the most important space is the student lounge/study area because this is where people will be spending the most time.
