Can you guarantee that the completed building will match the performance predicted by the analysis in its day-to-day operations?

  • Never. There will always be something that pops up to delay the project, whether it is weather, supply chain issues, or something just ended up taking longer than planned. It is always smart to plan extra time for everything to get done, and try to fix problems as fast as possible.

What level of detail should be included in a 4D simulation?

  • A large amount of detail should be included in the simulation. Buildings are very serious. If one little thing is off, people’s lives are at risk. That’s why it is important to make sure as much detail is provided and to have a project manager to make sure everything happens when and how it is supposed to. Nothing can be out of place, and it is important to schedule construction in a safe and organized way so that the building can be built and inhabited safely.

How can the feedback shown in a 4D simulation help you to optimize the project schedule?

  • This helps keep everything on track so nothing gets lost or forgotten in the process of building, and also so nothing gets counted twice. By linking all of the parts to the schedule, you know exactly what has to happen when, and it streamlines the process of planning. This is as opposed to trying to remember every little detail of how a building gets built and trying to make a schedule from that. This is much more organized and helpful, and can give the project organized and complete steps without anything being forgotten.
