- First, I only considered the alternatives that matched the floor area requirements. Next, I averaged out the values of the different parameters. For each design alternative, I added an IF statement on Excel. For the Floor Area, Surface Area, Volume, and Cost parameters, I gave the alternatives the lower value (2) if their output was greater than the average and a (4) if it was lower. For the Insolation parameters, I gave the alternatives with a higher value than the average, the greater value (4) and the opposite (2) for the alternatives with a lower than average insolation.

- I decided to weigh all the parameters equally so the building form with the overall best performance was building (1). It performed well throughout, despite it's low cumulative total insolation. If the developer cares more about insolation, I would have given that parameter a greater weight.
