Description
My proposed field research station is a 529 sf building containing 4 spaces: (1) an open lab with 3 desks and chairs and an 8’ counter top with sink hole (representing the lab bench), (2) a meeting room with a small round table, 4 chairs, and a whiteboard, (3) an ADA-compliant restroom with sink, toilet, and grab bars, and (4) an 81 sf storage room. The building has 3 large south-facing windows to capture light and heat (and 4 additional windows on the E and W sides), as well as a south-facing roof with ample surface area for mounting photovoltaic panels. As requested in the brief, it’s a simple, wood frame structure with a 6” concrete slab floor, 2x6 wooden frame construction, and roof with 2x10 wood rafters. There are 4 doors, each at least 32” wide: 2 glass doors allowing entrance into the research station, a bathroom door, and an exterior storage closet door.
