Description
The following is my design for a small research center on the North end of Lake Lagunita, facing the South towards the lake. The research center is shaped like an Asymmetrical trapezoid such that the longer side is exposed to the South, allowing for more of the building to be in direct contact with Sunlight for optimal & renewable heating. Additionally, the roof is sloped at a 5”/12” slope, which for the coordinates of the Bay Area, are great for optimizing photovoltaic energy through solar panels. The program is divided into 4 rooms: people enter from the slopped wall of the trapezoid, into a room designated for studying/independent research. The room over is shaped like an ‘L’ that contains a conference room along with a lab table for research equipment. Right above this room is a bathroom that is ADA compliant. To the side of these rooms is an ample-sized storage room for additional research equipment and supplies.
