Description
My proposed design for the new student center focuses on creating a vibrant and multifunctional space that promotes collaboration and community. The first floor features a large dining area surrounded by open social spaces, encouraging interaction and casual gatherings between students and faculty. The second floor includes several conference rooms for group meetings and class projects, as well as an open lounge space in front of the machine shop where students can work or relax while staying connected to the maker environment. A highlight of the design is the rooftop event space, which provides panoramic views and a flexible venue for student gatherings, showcases, and university events. Restrooms are conveniently located on each floor for accessibility, and circulation is designed to flow naturally between collaborative, social, and technical zones. Overall, the design balances functionality with openness, supporting both productivity and creativity in a welcoming environment.
