A 2376 square foot, two-story vacation home with an attached garage and terrace is designed primary with a wood frame and wood shingle finish as is common in the forest setting of the Lake Tahoe area.
The ground floor below-grade sections have concrete walls on a concrete slab foundation. A 300 square foot central living room, that comfortably seats approximately 20 people, is conveniently located close to the front door and has large windows allowing for spectacular views of the adjacent valley. The furniture can be rearranged to create a single large gathering place or kept as designed for separate dining and entertainment areas. A small mudroom with large windows is provided by the front door for exchanging shoes & clothing after outdoor activities or simply relaxing in a small space with a hot chocolate and views. The kitchen provides sufficient space and appliances for multiple cooks to create a delicious family-style meal. A 100 square foot storage room with a door close to the garage makes bringing in/taking out golf clubs, skis, and rafts from/to the car. The large bathroom has a full bath and is located in the corner of the floor to provide privacy and a direct path upstairs without having to pass through the kitchen nor the living room. The rear hallway between the bathroom and stairs can hold numerous jackets for those attending a large winter-time party.
The upper floor contains several bedrooms of different styles, all with ample views of the valley, to comfortably accommodate up to 8 people. Furthermore, an isolated study room in the far corner provides a quiet escape with a large sofa that can be used as a bed. The adjacent small hallway has a large window that, when opened, will provide a nice breeze for the entire upstairs. The open area can be implemented as a game room. The staircase reaches the upper floor right in front of the door leading to the terrace and the bathroom with a shower is strategically placed for the convenience of those also using the terrace. The terrace itself has enough seating for up to 20 people and is placed over the garage so that any late night activities will not result in a disturbance of those trying to sleep early. The extended terrace ledge allows for 270-degree views of the valley and surrounding areas.
