Module 4 - Points to Ponder
Please share your comments on 3 of the following Points to Ponder questions. (Choose 3 of the questions below.)
What types of building information are best portrayed in 3D views?
- 3D views would be useful for homeowners or for communicating the end result of the project. 3D views could provide visualization for the layout of the completed project, as well as ideas for furniture layout and aesthetic design. 2D views are essential for engineers and construction crews, as they provide information for building the project.
Give examples of how the building information for a specific location in the project needs to be filtered for different audiences and purposes?
Filtering information based on the project audience is important because it can increase the accessibility of understanding a complex project. For example, engineers and architects would need project plans with dimensions, measurements, and materials, whereas the homeowners would benefit more from more general visuals with furniture layouts. Aspects of the project like plumbing or electrical systems would also need much different perspectives than aspects like evacuation safety or insulation systems.
How can schedule views be used to assist with procurement and model-based estimating?
Schedule views can be used to estimate how much material would be needed to complete a job, which would also allow for budget planning and estimates.
