Description
My proposed design is a 24,588 sf extension built using the archway walls of the existing engineering building. The archways have been turned into French doors that allow entrance into the building on the first floor, where we have a large maker space, collaborative open work space, and a student gallery space with an additional wall included to hang artwork. A spiral staircase leads from the first floor to the third floor of the building, and an additional spiral staircase leads to the exterior of the building on the second floor, where I’ve designed a small green space and demolished and extended the existing building’s second floor outdoor space and 3 ft wall to be a walkway/area for tables. The second floor includes 5 small group meeting spaces, collaborative open work space, a socialization space, and a central photocopy and printing space. There is an additional spiral staircase leading from the second to third floor of the building. On the third floor, there are 2 additional small group meeting spaces, a socialization space, and a cafe with outdoor seating and a small green space overlooking the second floor green space. I’ve created alternative design options for the socialization space on the second floor and a small group meeting room on the third floor.
