Description

Attention students! Dancing Tree University’s newest and greatest extension to your beloved engineering building is officially open!

Say hello to: Y2E2-2.

That’s right. 25 thousand more square feet of study, meeting, and making space so you can spend even more time pretending your group project is “almost done.”

During design review, DTU considered two alternative visions for this expansion (specifically, on the first floor): one creating a specialized space just for students who prefer to be completely removed from any and all forms of grass and/or nature (there are no plants- not even fake ones- in the vicinities), and another promoting open access for all students seeking even minimal connection to the outdoors without needing to leave the building. The university remains committed to non-discriminatory, inclusive space planning and chose the latter with the addition of a few “plant-free” rooms and a bathroom for select students. The second option is for enhanced collaboration in study and meeting spaces, provided on the first floor with the removal of multiple walls.

So, inside of Y2E2-2, you will find many a private study space, collaborative workspaces (for that group project👌), a cafe (TBD: Farbes or Foupa- vote below for your favorite cafe!), product realization labs, and makerspaces. On the first and second floors are beautiful, expansive sunrooms to aid in your vitamin-D deficiency recovery, and on the third floor is a massive gallery for students to showcase their completed projects!

A little demolition (only on the first floor) was required to connect the old and new wings: the result is a seamless extension ready to inspire collaboration, innovation, and probably a few all-nighters.
