My Y2E2 expansion features an extensive lab on the first floor—primarily designed for bioengineers with wash stations, centrifuges, and other essential equipment. There are several student hangouts on all of the floors, enabling students to have spaces to relax and engage with one other. These spaces are designed to offer a reprieve from the intensive demands of class, helping students better decompress and adjust to the demands of the day. The student work spaces are designed for interactive student engagement, facilitating collaboration and problem solving. In order to connect the Y2E2 expansion with the previous building, I demolished an existing wall and created a corridor for travel between them. The design of my building remains simplistic to complement the existing Y2E2 building.
