Description
A glass encased walkway on the second floor connects the existing engineering wing to the new added engineering wing. On the first floor of the new space, doors welcome students into the central social part of the new wing, filled with couches and tables. The main entrance features a tall ceiling extending all the way through the second floor, though there is also an alternative design option that discards this for a more intimate social setting and increased maker room space. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to maker room spaces, with a room for laser cutting, a room for 3D printing, and a production shop. There is storage space and bathrooms for men / women. Two separate staircases, or an elevator, take you up to the second floor, where you walk into a social work space as well as group meeting rooms down the hall. There is a glass encased gallery space to feature student projects. There is also a photocopying and printing room, and a storeroom and bathrooms. Finally on the third floor there is more group work space (and bathrooms and storage space), and then a cafeteria and dining space. The cafe opens up to an outdoor space where students can eat with a view. The second design choice is the option to add an outdoor walkway on the first floor with archways, keeping more in style with the original building and adding another outdoor element.
