Your Recommendation for the “Best” Design Option
After completing my analysis, I chose Proposal 1. While Proposal 3 was my favorite design visually, it did not allow for as much daylight or sunlight, especially in the winter. Option 2 had more of a natural feel but didn’t allow for as many solar panels due to its shape and also would be more complicated to build and navigate due to the various rounded edges. While more simple, option 1 maximized sunlight and daylight coverage as well as surface area for solar panels. All of the options were comparable for wind and climate, so I did not include that analysis.
In transforming my proposal into a revit model, I made the exterior walls curtain walls to maximize light. I also turned the lower roofs into outdoor space.
Comment on submission: I was able to include one shaft for the staircase but for the other one, my revit program would crash and turn unresponsive every time I tried to make it. I ran into this problem for 3D views as well, so I was not able to include this.
