Your Recommendation for the “Best” Design Option

The design of Proposal 2 was supposed to be wild. It has twisted, slanted and overhanging sides that would make it costly and unfit for this project direction. I do like the interplay between the two forms and the angles that allow for more sun on the ground. Instead, we can compare Proposal 1 and 3. Both Proposal’s were simpler forms than Proposal 2. When viewed from a plan view, Proposal 3 resembles the Autodesk logo and has the smallest footprint(great for landscaping and circulation)

In the end I chose Proposal 1 as the best design out of the three. It has the largest GFA and the largest RA so it provides better usable space with the potential for higher revenue when renting it out. Proposal 1 was also chosen because a large portion of the building faces the water when compared to the other structures.

**11/15/25 Update.. Looking back at these models (working on Module 7), I only realized that the large wall facing the bay/water should have been angled the opposite way. In this configuration, occupants would be looking out the windows at the small building between it and the bay (it’s the SF railway museum). Instead, if it were angled the other way, it would face the open space and those bocce ball courts. Although… I suppose I can justify this current configuration because you would get more sun this way(than the opposite face angle), and you have a better view of the Bay Bridge, which is pretty cool.
