Your Recommendation for the “Best” Design Option
The best design option is proposal 1 because it was shown to have even daylight potential across the building model, the most potential for solar energy production, and most even sunlight exposure at various hours. The other more complex models had different stacked geometries, so this led to regions of low sunlight exposure. The other two models also had less total potential area for solar energy generation due to the floor stacking. It was convenient for the proposal 1 to be the best option because it was the simplest design and fastest/easiest to model. Proposal 1 had simple, rectangular shapes as compared to the other designs with cylindrical and triangular components. This contributed to it being the most practical and cost-effective design option.
