For my project I would like to do something such as a rectangular building as shown in the second picture or more a of a dome structure like the first picture shown.
I think both options look relatively simple and modern although it may not be a simple design. They are very clean and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. For my interior I would like lots of open areas with only the necessary rooms included. I think the more open the floor plan the nicer it looks and you just have more room to do everything.
Last quarter I took a field trip in CEE 107A and I went to the GSB and got to see many green features of the building/center. Somethings that I would like to include in my building design are rain capture including an underground tank to hold the water. I would also like to include in my building a ground source heat vent along with cooling beams in the ceiling to regulate temperatures without all extra electrical demand. The final main thing I would like to add is solar panels on the roof to help with electrical demand.
The outside area I would like to be very green and one thing I learned about in the previous quarter was subsurface irrigation which I would like to include everywhere there is a plant to reduce water waste.
Aside from all of these add ons I think the rest will come when inhabited such as sensory lighting, LED lighting, sensors to open windows at night, and sensors for cooling beams so that they are not running while a window or door is open.
Although some of these things may be tough to add to my design such as subsurface irrigation. I would like to learn how to incorporate these ideas in my project design.
